Everyone knows how to appreciate art, It’s not a hard thing to do. There two ways in which you might misunderstand an art piece. The first one is when you are missing parts of the puzzle. Let’s say that I show you a painting with a lot of symbols, In order to truly appreciate the species you need to know what all the symbols means if you don’t know what a symbols means Your perception of the physical change, you can still appreciate the Aesthetics but not what the piece is expressing or intending to do. If you are reading a story or a poem If the author is using a very complex vocabulary you might misunderstand what the writer is trying to say.
However these types of misunderstandings rarely happen, usually artists make art for everyone to understand. Very few times artists make art for themselves or for a very specific group of people or even a specific person. But this is very uncommon, most of the time all the pieces of the puzzle are given to you. the thing is that even though the type of misunderstanding is not that common it’s the most obvious for people for some reason.
